The Challenge

Her Majesty’s Government needed to encourage members of the public to vote for new mayors to be elected across various regions of the UK. The elections were focused on six different regions and each video had to appeal to wide-ranging audiences. The goal of the videos was to raise public awareness of the elections and underscore the importance of voting.

The Solution

We prepared a core script to be used for each video and asked specific questions that would provide nuances for each region. We then spent six days travelling around the country to shoot locals in order to capture the accent. The videos were then tied in to a wider campaign and held together with a hashtag #ourmayor, where viewers could join the debate.

The videos were hosted on YouTube and promoted through the large network of social media channels used by HM Government and the satellite council offices for each region.

Parting Shot

The response to the social media campaign was so encouraging that HM Government used the audio from the videos on Radio broadcasts throughout the UK.
