The Challenge

MarathonBet wanted to launch a video campaign in the run up to the 2016 Grand National. The challenge they set us was to come up with an innovative idea that would get millions of people talking and create a buzz around the biggest horse racing event in the UK.

The Solution

With a witty play on the key theme, we gave viewers the ‘Gran National’ and recruited 20 old dears on mobility scooters to race around our purpose-built track. The video is a creative combination of incredible gamesmanship, an unusual race and a dash of witty humour. We also captured the grannies in virtual reality 360 video especially for Facebook together with atomised content to reach a wider audience.

The videos were shared across various social channels and sent the world of social media into a frenzy. The content was also picked up by the major media hub, Lad Bible.

We would like to announce that no grannies were harmed during the making of these videos. There was, however, nothing left of the tea and biscuits!
